Reusable precast retaining blocks with a lug-and-socket self-locating profile. No mortar, no rebar pinning, no waste. A 2-tonne (4,410 lb) standard block stacks five courses for a 4m freestanding wall (13ft 1in). Lift with the cast-in eye, relocate, restack. The modern alternative to gabions and in-situ pours.
A wall you can take with you. Build a 60m run (about 197ft) on Monday, fill it on Wednesday, move it to a new pad in twelve months. We have customers on their fourth yard with the same blocks.
Quarries, recycling sites, farm clamps, civils compounds, waste-transfer pads and security walls. Standard blocks ex-stock; bespoke sizes 3-4 weeks. Cast in C40/50 concrete to BS 8500-1, manufactured under BS EN 13369 factory production control.

Block sizes and stacking limits.
Six standard blocks cover almost every retaining and division job. The system bonds with half blocks at returns and a capping block on top. We can pigment to match site colours — typically charcoal or earth red — for visual installations.

Stacking limits assume a level prepared sub-base and no surcharge. For taller walls, surcharge loading or sloping ground we can add cast-in dowels and a designed base course.
All blocks supplied with cast-in lifting eye rated to safe working load — set out, lift and reuse with standard 5-tonne shackle.

From a 30m bay run (about 98ft 5in) at a Cornish quarry to a 200m perimeter (about 656ft 2in) at a Midlands waste transfer station, the same block does the same job — fast to install, easy to relocate.

How do they stack — do they need mortar? +
No mortar. The blocks have a male lug on the top face and a matching female socket on the underside, so each course self-locates onto the one below. Friction and weight do the rest. A standard 1.6 × 0.8 × 0.8m (5ft3in × 2ft7in × 2ft7in) block weighs 2 tonnes (4,410 lb) — once you have three or four courses up, the wall is not going anywhere. We do offer a hidden cast-in dowel for permanent retaining situations or where seismic / accidental impact loads are a design consideration.
Can I move them later? +
Yes — that is the point. Every block has a recessed lifting eye on the top face. Hook on with a 5-tonne (11,020 lb) shackle, lift, relocate, restack. We have customers who have moved the same wall three times in five years as the yard layout changed. There is no on-site waste because nothing is bonded.
How tall can the wall go? +
Standard blocks stack five courses (4m / 13ft 1in) freestanding for material retention. With cast-in dowels and engineered base detail we can take it higher — typical limit is 6m (19ft 8in) for retaining and 8m (26ft 3in) for divisions with no surcharge. Above that we move to a designed L-wall solution. Wall height also depends on what is behind it: 4m (13ft 1in) of crushed stone is not the same as 4m (13ft 1in) of grain.
How are they better than gabions? +
Faster to install — no mesh basket, no fill, no settlement. Reusable — gabions degrade and corrode after 15-20 years and have to be skipped. Cleaner footprint — no spilled stone, no mesh ends, no rusty wire. The total installed cost is similar; the lifecycle cost is far lower because you can lift and reuse the wall on a different site.
What is the lead time? +
Standard blocks ship from stock — typically same week if you order before Wednesday. Coloured pigmented blocks and bespoke sizes (longer, taller, special lifting points) run 3-4 weeks. We deliver UK-wide on flatbed; offload requires the customer's own forklift, telehandler or HIAB.
