Kim Rumsam
Led by Kim Rumsam — sole owner and director since 2009 — the business has been cast in North Devon since 1973. Under Kim's stewardship, WCCP has invested in a major capital expansion and relocation to a purpose-built factory at Chilsworthy (2023), growing from the Shebbear site and taking on more people locally.
The trading entity — West Country Concrete Products Limited, Companies House #06987338 — was incorporated in 2009. Previous historic trading name: South Molton Concrete Products Limited.
Why this matters
One owner. Two decades of solo leadership. Same answer to the same question.
Sole director since 2009 — no private equity, no holding-company structure, no parent group setting policy from elsewhere. The person who signs off the casting standard is the person who signs off the cheque. Under Kim's ownership, the business invested in a new purpose-built facility to secure the next era.

From a moulds-and-mixer outfit outside South Molton in 1973 to a purpose-built factory in Chilsworthy in 2023, with the same answer to the same question all the way through.

The beginning

Founded outside South Molton
A small yard, a few moulds, and a clear idea — cast concrete done properly. The first customers were local farms. They still are.

Growing range

Product range expands with the dairy industry
By the mid-eighties the catalogue is growing with the South West dairy industry: cubicles, troughs, panels, slurry walls. The yard is well established in North Devon.

Going national
1990sNationwide delivery
Beyond the West Country
Word travels. Civils contractors and farmers from across the UK start ordering. We add prestressed wall panels, retaining systems, bespoke moulds. The yard moves to Endford Works, Shebbear, to keep up.

2009Family ownership
Limited company, single ownership
Kim Rumsam takes sole ownership. The trading business of nearly four decades is consolidated into West Country Concrete Products Limited. Same standards, same answer to the same question.

2023New jobs created locally
Purpose-built in Chilsworthy
A brand-new factory next door to the Severn Trent Green Power biogas plant. Production buildings, batching plant, silos, water tower, workshops, offices — and a round of local hiring. Same family, properly equipped.

Fifty-three years on, still answering the same question. Bespoke or catalogue, farm or civils — we draw it and we cast it, and your groundworker takes it from there. Always, the team you spoke to last time still picks up the phone.
How we work
Three things, never not the case.
If you want it done properly
We don't cut corners on cement, cover, cure or compaction. That's the brief.
If you want it bespoke
In-house CAD, in-house mould-making. If it's precast and it can be delivered, we can make it.
If you want a name to call
No call centres. The people you met on day one are the people who pick up the phone today. Talk to the yard.
The yard team
No call centre. Six or seven of us.
When you ring 01409 281437 you'll get one of the people below. When you visit the yard, same lot. We've been working together a long time and we like it that way.
