Size cubicles on the heaviest 15% of the herd, not the average — AHDB Dairy 2024 recommendation. We will size them with you against your milk records before you order.

Common questions
What people ask about cubicles.
Five questions we answer most weeks. If yours is not here, ring the yard.
What sizing do you follow for the cubicles? +
We work to AHDB Dairy 2024 dimensions: 2.4m × 1.2m (7ft10in × 3ft11in) bed for the mature Holstein, neck rail at 1.15m (3ft9in), brisket board at 1.7m (5ft7in). Jersey, Friesian and beef variants follow the same logic, scaled by liveweight. We size on the heaviest 15% of the herd, not the average — that is the AHDB recommendation and it is what stops cubicle-rejection lameness.
Fixed or portable — which do I want? +
Fixed cubicles bolt to a cast-in upstand or floor pocket and are the standard for new builds. Portable cantilever cubicles sit on a base rail and can be lifted out — they suit reroofed sheds, tenanted units and farms that want to flex bed numbers between groups.
How long does install take? +
A two-man crew with a HIAB sets a 60-cubicle row in a day on a flat slab. We deliver to programme, supply the install drawing and the bedding-mortar spec. We can also project-manage the install if you want a turn-key job — talk to the yard.
Do they suit a robot herd? +
Yes — robot herds need the cubicle right because the cow chooses when to lie. We size to the higher-yielding 15%, set the neck rail forward, and use a soft brisket board so cows rise easily and head to the robot. Lely and DeLaval both publish cow-flow guides we work to.
What is the lead time? +
Catalogue cubicle divisions ship in 2 to 3 weeks. Bespoke heights or finishes run 4 to 6 weeks. Spring and autumn are our busy seasons — get the order in early if your shed is going up to a programme.
