Why standards matter on a precast job.
Standards are how a designer, a contractor and a manufacturer agree what "good" looks like — without writing the rules from scratch on every job. A panel manufactured in compliance with applicable British Standards means the same thing in Holsworthy as it does in Hull. A sulphate-resisting mix performs the same in slurry whether it left our yard or someone else's.
Below, each topic is broken down into a plain-English answer, the products WCCP applies it to, and a link through. For the specific standards applicable to a particular product, contact us. If you would rather scan a one-screen summary, the canonical /standards page has the landscape; if you need the paperwork, head to the conformity hub.
Compliance topics, one by one.
Precast wall elements
Precast wall elements
Prestressed and reinforced wall panels are supplied as factory-cast products, manufactured in compliance with applicable British Standards — covering geometric tolerances, mechanical resistance, and factory production control. For information regarding the specific standards applicable to a particular product, please contact us.

Concrete classification
Concrete classification
Concrete mixes are specified by exposure class and strength class to suit the duty — sulphate-resistant mixes for slurry, standard mixes for general retaining duty, and so on. Mix certificates are available on request.

Structural design
Structural design
Eurocode 2 is the structural design code for concrete in the UK. It drives the calculations behind a WCCP panel — reinforcement detailing, anchorage, deflection and cover for durability. Structures are designed by the customer’s own engineer; WCCP supplies to that design.

Liquid-retention design
Liquid-retention design
Liquid-retaining and containment structures — slurry tanks, silage clamps, water-retaining walls — are designed to tighter crack-width control and water-tight detailing than a standard structural element, alongside SSAFO 2018, so the structure is designed to pass Environment Agency inspection.

Agricultural buildings
Agricultural buildings
UK agricultural building guidance for livestock housing covers cubicles, feed barriers, kerbs, slatted floors, gates and water troughs — cubicle dimensions, livestock loadings, barrier strength, drainage falls and durability for the slurry, urine and silage environment. WCCP cross-references AHDB Dairy 2024 dimensions before casting.
Applies to: Cattle cubicles →
Silage, Slurry and Agricultural Fuel Oil Regulations 2018
Silage, Slurry and Agricultural Fuel Oil Regulations 2018
SSAFO 2018 is the statutory instrument that governs slurry, silage effluent and agricultural fuel-oil storage in England — a minimum design life, structural adequacy, impermeability of the storage envelope and written notice to the Environment Agency before construction begins. WCCP supplies a sulphate-resisting mix certificate and a written capacity statement for the units supplied. Structural calculations for the store come from your own engineer.

Conformity marking
Conformity marking
CE and UKCA are the conformity marks under the Construction Products Regulation, applied where a product is covered by an official UK or EU product standard. Conformity documentation status varies by product — email info@westcountryconcreteproducts.co.uk with the product and project reference and the office will confirm what can be supplied for your order.

Download conformity statements.
Each topic above has a conformity statement available on request — contact us for the specific standards applicable to a particular product.
Need the paperwork pack?
On request, a WCCP delivery can be accompanied by the relevant conformity documentation, the mix certificate and the cube-test record — as a single PDF. Tell us the job and we will send a sample pack so your QS can review the format before the order.
