Slatted Lids.
Lift one out. Hose underneath. SSAFO done.
Precast lift-out slatted covers for slurry channels and reception pits. Cast to BS EN 12737 with a slip-resistant grid finish on the top face. Standard, midi and mini catalogue sizes, plus bespoke spans to 6m. Cattle and sheep profiles. Catalogue lead time 2-4 weeks.
A slatted lid is a precast concrete cover that closes off a slurry channel while letting cattle dung fall through into the storage below. The slat openings are 38 mm (1.5in) wide for cattle, 25 mm (1in) for sheep. WCCP slats are cast to BS EN 12737 with cast-in lifting eyes so the lid lifts straight out for inspection.
We cast and deliver across England and Wales from the Holsworthy yard, with installation crews available for full SSAFO retrofits.

Common questions
What people ask about slatted lids.
Five questions we answer most weeks. If yours is not here, ring the yard.
What standard do the slats meet? +
All our slatted lids are cast to BS EN 12737:2008+A1:2011 — the European standard for precast concrete livestock slats. That covers slat opening width (typically 38mm/1.5in for cattle, 25mm/1in for sheep), surface finish, structural performance and the safe working load. Each batch is tested at the yard and traceable by cast date.
Why lift-out rather than fixed? +
Lift-out lids let you access the channel for cleaning, repair and inspection without breaking concrete. SSAFO 2018 requires every storage facility to be inspectable for leaks — fixed slabs make that genuinely difficult. Our standard lid lifts with a tractor and chain through cast-in lifting eyes.
How slip-resistant is the top? +
We cast a textured grid pattern into the top face of every cattle slat — the so-called "Surefoot" finish. BS EN 12737 requires a minimum surface roughness; our finish exceeds it. The texture stays sharp for 15+ years in normal dairy use.
Can you cast bespoke sizes? +
Yes — slurry channels are rarely two of a kind, especially in retro-fit work. Send us channel width, span between bearings and the loading you need (typically 5kN/m² imposed for cattle, 2kN/m² for sheep) and we will cast to suit. Bespoke runs to 6m (19ft8in) span on twin-tee profiles.
What is the lead time? +
Catalogue sizes ship in 2 to 4 weeks. Bespoke spans and reception pit lids run 4 to 6 weeks. Civils-grade gasketed lids for sealed pits go to 6 weeks for the cure cycle.
