Portable Cubicles.
Lift one out. Drop one in. No drilling.
Free-standing precast cubicle beds for re-roofed barns, retro-fits and tenanted lets. AHDB Dairy 2024 sized, cast in C40/50 concrete, drilled to accept Wilson, IAE, Spinder and Cowcare cubicle hoops. Lifts in and out with a tractor and chain. Catalogue lead time 2-3 weeks.
A portable cattle cubicle is a free-standing precast bed that locks the cubicle hoop into the floor by weight alone — no cast-in upstands, no drilled bolts. WCCP portable beds weigh 280–360 kg (617–794 lb), sized to AHDB 2024 dimensions, and lift in and out with a tractor and chain in under five minutes.
The right answer for re-roofed sheds, mixed-make herds, and tenanted units. We cast, deliver and install UK-wide from the Holsworthy yard.

Where they go
Common applications.
Portable cubicles are the answer when you cannot — or do not want to — fix into the slab. Tenanted lets, re-roofed barns, mixed-make sheds and rearing units all benefit from the lift-and-shift design.
- · Re-roofed barns where existing slabs cannot accept cast-in upstands
- · Tenanted dairy units where the landlord forbids permanent fixings
- · Cubicle rows that flex between groups (dry, fresh, high-yielders)
- · Heifer rearing sheds with multiple age bands rotating through
- · Grant-funded steel-frame conversions on existing concrete
- · Short-term lets and contract rearing arrangements
- · Mixed-make sheds where one row needs replacing without retrofit

Common questions
What people ask about portable cubicles.
Five questions we answer most weeks. If yours is not here, ring the yard.
Why portable instead of fixed? +
Portable cubicles sit on a free-standing base rail and can be lifted out with a tractor and chain. They suit re-roofed sheds where the existing slab will not accept cast-in upstands, tenanted units where the landlord forbids permanent fixings, and farms that want to reconfigure between groups. Expect about 25% more cost per cubicle than fixed but you keep the asset when you leave.
Will they accept my existing cubicle hoops? +
Yes — the blank portable bed is drilled to accept the common UK makes (Wilson, IAE, Spinder, Cowcare). Send us the make and model with the order and we will pre-drill at the yard. Any non-standard pattern we will template free of charge before casting.
Do they move under the cow? +
No. A portable bed weighs 320–360kg (706–794 lb) and the geometry of the front leg plus the cow’s lying position locks it down. We have units that have been in continuous service since 2008 with no creep. On a slick concrete floor we recommend a single anchor pin at each end of the row.
How are they delivered? +
On our HIAB lorry, lifted straight off onto your slab. A two-man crew can set a 30-cubicle row in a morning. We supply lifting points cast into each unit and the install drawing comes with the order.
What is the lead time? +
Catalogue portable cubicle beds run 2 to 3 weeks from order. Bespoke heel-stone heights or non-standard hoop drilling adds a week. Spring and autumn are our busy seasons — get the order in early if your shed is going up to a programme.
