Recent bespoke jobs: 240 tonnes (about 529,000 lb) of DIN-spec retaining wall to Bavaria, custom cubicle beds for the Outer Hebrides, AD-plant tank panels for Severn Trent biogas neighbours. Common questions
What people ask about bespoke jobs.
Five questions we answer most weeks. If yours is not here, ring the yard.
What can you cast? +
If it is precast and it can be delivered, we can make it. We have cast everything from 5kg (11 lb) architectural copings to 14-tonne (about 30,900 lb) hoppers. The limits are mould-build cost (one-off jobs need amortising over the cast count) and what fits on a lorry — for the West Country that is roughly 4m (13ft 1in) wide × 22m (72ft 2in) long × 3.5m (11ft 6in) high.
How does the process work? +
You send a drawing or sketch. We give a fixed price and lead-time within 3–5 working days, including the mould cost. We build the mould in our pattern shop, cast, cure, certify and deliver. Most bespoke jobs are 4 to 8 weeks from order; complex moulds 8 to 12.
What about mould cost on a one-off? +
Timber moulds for a single cast are cheaper but limited to simple geometry. Polyurethane moulds for repeat casts cost more upfront but the per-unit price drops fast. We will tell you the breakeven count when we quote — sometimes a 6-cast batch is cheaper than 3 separate one-offs.
Can you match an existing concrete? +
Yes — we sample finishes for architectural and heritage work before committing to the cast. Local aggregate, white cement, board-marked timber pattern, sandblast or acid-etch finishes — whatever the heritage officer wants signed off, we will get there before we cast the panel.
Do you do design work? +
Yes — our in-house design team will take a sketch and turn it into a structurally sound precast unit, with calcs to BS EN 1992. Free for jobs that go ahead; chargeable for design-only work.
If you can draw it, we can probably cast it.
